Without Scott Mission Camp, My Life Wouldn’t Be The Same!

Camper, Diego

Diego’s family hadn’t lived in Toronto very long when his mother signed him up to attend Scott Mission Camp for the first time.

He admits he was a little anxious, as it was his first overnight camp…but it didn’t take long for Diego to realize that he was in an extraordinarily beautiful place, surrounded by warm and wonderful counsellors and plenty of children who would become his lifelong friends.

In describing that first day Diego says, “It was fun. Everyone was really friendly, including my cabin mates. I loved the atmosphere, I loved praise and worship time, and my counsellor was really fun and kind.”

Diego participated in every sport and activity offered at SMC that year, but his favourite moment is what brought him back to camp year after year. “It was the final night and we were worshiping together and you could see the whole building praise God!” he says. “SMC has helped my Christian life and helped me get closer to God. Without it, my life wouldn’t be the same!”

Diego’s experiences at camp have grown and shaped him, and he continues to participate in all of The Scott Mission’s outreaches for children and youth-from after-school programs to camp reunions, winter retreats, and more. Through his involvement in our Foundations Program, Diego has grown into a strong leader; mentoring younger children and leading Bible lessons and devotions at every opportunity.

Children, youth and teens like Diego are building lifelong friendships, while deepening their relationship with Christ at Scott Mission Camp. Thank you for giving generously again today, so more boys and girls will have the opportunity to experience Scott Mission Camp. As Diego says, “With everything you give, you help impact hundreds of kids’ lives!”
