Christmas is a difficult time for many in your community who are struggling with homelessness and joblessness. Thanks to generous friends and partners like you, The Scott Mission can welcome people like James, who came to us desperate for shelter and help in rebuilding all that was broken in his life.
James was running from a bad home life when he came through The Scott Mission doors for the first time. A kind stranger had dropped him off at our doors, because he was worried the young man might freeze to death on the bitter winter streets of Toronto. We learned hardship after hardship had stripped him of everything, especially hope.
Thank you for giving generously at Christmas and all year long to help people like James. Your prayers and partnership are making a big difference in a great many lives!
A second visit to The Scott Mission
When later in life, James again came upon hard times, he passed through the Mission doors once more. He wasn’t running this time, but he was asking for a meal . . . and help in getting back to work with a life of independence.
James again came upon hard times, he passed through the Mission doors again. He wasn’t running this time. But he was asking for a meal . . . and help getting back to work with a life of independence.
Support from caring donors made sure James received a good hot meal and safe shelter. Later, our staff offered job and educational counselling to help him find employment and get back on his feet. James says the prayers and encouragement he received were healing to his body and soul!
“This is a great environment, with great staff,” James says with a broad smile.
This Christmas, James is filled with newfound hope!
James is deeply thankful for the caring friends whose donations make it possible for The Scott Mission to serve huge numbers of hungry, hurting, and homeless people each day.
He says, “When I first became homeless, I was really struggling. I ran out of money and was at the end of my rope. The Mission is a big help if you’re really struggling.”GIVE NOW!
