Welcome to Scott Mission's Daycare Centre!

Our centre focuses on a holistic, family-centred approach to childcare, for babies and pre-schoolers. Following the most current early education practices, our teaching team creates a warm, caring, interactive atmosphere in which children can grow and learn.

Our Centre was originally established in 1963 and has been located at our O’Connor Family Centre, 1550 O’Connor Drive, since 2013. We are committed to serving the community in offering quality childcare services.

Our Philosophy

The Scott Mission Daycare Centre seeks to provide, in a warm and caring atmosphere, a positive Christian early education experience. We value an inclusive approach, to the care provided, that embraces the entire family and promotes a child's physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual growth. Quality care is a top priority, and we strive to stay up to date with the most recent early education methods. Our childcare centre is licensed and adheres to the requirements of Ontario’s Day Nurseries Act.

Our pre-school room has been modified to provide Montessori learning. The Montessori Method is a child-centered model of education that involves child-led activities (“work”), classrooms with children of varying ages, and teachers who encourage independence among their little pupils.

Our Team

Our vibrant and engaging teaching team is committed to creating a welcoming and encouraging space in which babies and pre-schoolers can play, grow, and learn – with dedicated caregivers, educators, and two trained Early Childhood Assistants.

Our teaching team is committed to professional development to stay current in early education practices. We also have instructors who speak Tagalog, Spanish, and Mandarin.

Our Programs

Infant

In a bright and inviting daycare centre, we welcome infants 0-18 months to our nurturing and stimulating environment. You can have every confidence that your child will be given individualized and focused care.

Toddler

Creativity is central to our toddler program. Children from 18-30 months are invited to use their imaginations, develop fine motor skills and engage in sensory activities. Art materials are always within the grasp of our tots and circle time is a valued part of the day where singing and sharing are encouraged.

Preschool

Our Montessori Pre-School Classroom features various age-appropriate activities for children to choose from throughout the day. The program features a focus on the whole student; social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development are all considered.

Our preschool program engages children from 30 months-4 years of age. Foundational social skills are built through positive interactions with the teaching team and other children. We believe that effective conflict resolution skills begin at an early age and take every opportunity to encourage children to use positive communication tools.

Parent Education and Resources

It is our desire at Scott Mission to provide an inclusive approach to childcare by involving the whole family in the process of a child’s growth and development. Our location at the O’Connor Family Centre allows us the space to host workshops and training for parents. In addition, the centre features a Family Resource Room with a mini library, computers and sitting area that will be accessible to parents.

Our Menu

All snacks and meals in our childcare centre are catered by Wholesome Kids Catering.

Healthy and delicious food geared specifically towards young children is their main priority. Any dietary restrictions are accommodated without difficulty.
