Respect, Dignity, and Hope: Caring for Families

Scott Mission’s food banks have long been a lifeline to families and individuals in the Toronto area. But during the challenges brought on by the pandemic, access to nutritious food that’s free of charge has been of even greater importance . . . and it’s reaching people who never thought they would need help putting food on the table.
Josie is just like many of our neighbours across Toronto. After paying rent and bills, there’s often very little left to buy groceries.

“I come here because I am on a tight budget, and I am trying to survive as best I can,” Josie says.Scott Mission helped with meals and bags of groceries to bridge the gap. But she also found new friends who truly care about the hardships she is experiencing. Everywhere she looked at the Mission, she found smiles, kind words, and offers for prayer.

She also learned that it’s donations from many caring friends like you that make it possible for Scott Mission to meet the urgent needs of people facing food insecurity.

“We come here because we are treated with respect,” she says. “We feel that Scott Mission is like a family.”

Josie is very thankful for the help she has received and, like all of us, is hoping this new year brings much better days for everyone.

Please make a gift now to help struggling families in the Toronto area. Your generosity will provide meals and groceries, clothing, other basic essentials, and spiritual support. Thank you for being a blessing to our neighbours in need!
