A concerned neighbour brought Madeline* to The Scott Mission, assuring her that she would find kindness and the help she urgently needed to put food on the table for her family. She was surprised to see so many other mothers with children, each one hoping to receive groceries, and perhaps warm boots, a winter coat, or snowsuit for a child.
Madeline was met with warmth by the Mission’s caring staff who prayed with and for her, and made sure she received all of the critical items her family needed.
Finally, she found hope
The relief she felt was immediate, because she knew whatever her circumstances, she had a place to turn for help and hope.
Sadly, many mothers who turn to the Mission for help regularly face an impossible choice between paying the rent and buying groceries. “The Mission has helped tremendously in terms of my groceries,” Madeline says. “I’ve received fresh fruit, vegetables, and some meat. I’ve been blessed with some clothing and more.”
Besides important help with food, clothing, and other basic necessities which have made all the difference, this family also draws strength through our Bible studies and retreats for women at our Collingwood property.
