What it means to be a Good Samaritan

By January 20, 2020February 27th, 2024No Comments

Good Samaritan Monthly Donors like John Lamont help provide meals and new beginnings through their faithful monthly giving.

John remembers clearly the day his mother shared her compassion for people who are hungry, hurting, or homeless, saying, “Johnny, that could be any of us, and we must support.”

Over the decades, John and his family chose to support The Scott Mission with a gift at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But after taking a tour and seeing firsthand the important outreach that is impacting hundreds of lives each day, John chose to become a Good Samaritan.

“I was very impressed with The Scott Mission. The same day of the tour, I said, ‘Sign me up monthly.’ There was such a good feeling there, very friendly. It really touched and encouraged me. The Mission has been around a long time and has a good reputation. It’s a good cause, and giving monthly is a good thing to do.

“Everybody’s a human being, and we need The Scott Mission to help people get back on their feet. Without this place, our city would not be the city as we see it.”
