Holiday Meals
The Scott Mission prepares special meals for our clients during Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and New Years.
We believe it is important to celebrate these days with our clients because many of them don't have families to spend time with. In this way, we hope they can consider us their family and feel comfortable among friends.
At Christmas and New Years, we have turkey dinners and our dining room tables are decorated with candles, fresh fruit and candies. All guests receive a bag of gifts for Christmas and are invited to movies and pizza in the afternoon.
At Easter, our tables are decorated with coloured eggs and our chef prepares a special dessert.
Thanksgiving is our busiest day of the year. Between 600 and 700 people come for dinner and enjoy turkey or ham and pumpkin pie.
Many of our clients dress up and thank us profusely for the holiday meal. The effort that goes into every entree along with a festive atmosphere and warm smile make all the difference to our clients.
We are so grateful to the many volunteers and donors that continue to make our holiday meals so special. Thanks also to the Hustler Young Men's Bible Class that has volunteered on Thanksgiving Day for about 50 years!
