Position: Children and Youth Male Counselor
Department: Children, Youth and Camp
Work Location: 502 Spadina Avenue and Lawrence Heights Community
Status: Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Starting Date: As Soon As Possible
Qualifications:
- Hold a solid understanding of Christian Ministry and Application
- Agree with and support The Scott Mission’s Christian Statement of Faith, Goals, Objectives, Conduct Policy and Philosophy of Ministry
- Have a solid and vibrant Christian faith. Regular attendance at a recognized church or worshipping community
- Post secondary degree or diploma completed in area of study related to child and youth work, recreation or teaching
- Experience with children, particularly boys re: child behaviour management, individual motivation and program planning
- Experience working with culturally diverse groups of children and youth
- Ability and desire to communicate Biblical messages and Christian lifestyle (values) to children in word and deed
- Must have team experience and be a supportive team member
- Hold a valid Driver’s license
Responsibilities:
- To work within and support the above statements
- Program planning for large and small group events (i.e. camp reunions and club retreats etc.)
- To assist with planning and implementation of after school programs for children and youth in accordance with existing philosophy
- To build relationships with club participants and other staff/volunteers
- To assist with planning and implementation of Lawrence Heights Summer Program
